FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
💰 1. How much do the courses cost and are there payment plans available? All of our courses are priced to suit different budgets, and we offer flexible payment plans from as little as £99 a month - get in touch via the contact form for more info.
📅 2. When does the next course start? We run a limited number of courses per year and currently only plan on running one this year on the 18th May 2026 - Places are limited so we strongly recommend registering your interest early to avoid missing out. Contact us to find out when the next cohort begins.
🎮 3. Do I need any prior experience in games testing? Not at all! Our courses are designed for complete beginners. All you need is a passion for videogames, a Windows 10 PC or higher, and the drive to succeed. Having said that, we have had professionals join our course and benefit from it also.
💻 4. What equipment do I need? You just need a Windows 10 (or higher) computer. We use low spec games throughout the course so no high-end gaming PC is required.
⏱️ 5. How long are the courses? Our courses range from 1 to 8 weeks depending on your chosen plan — Beginner is 1 week, Advanced is 5 weeks, and Ultimate is the full 8 week experience. The best part? Each plan runs consecutively, so you can upgrade just before the next one kicks off!
🕐 6. When do lessons take place? Classes run Monday to Thursday for 2 hours per day, generally between 6pm and 8pm. Earlier classes may be available depending on demand. We discuss scheduling with all students beforehand to ensure it works around your life.
🎬 7. Are the lessons live or pre-recorded? Our courses combine both! You'll have access to online learning modules that can be read or listened to at your own pace, alongside live sessions with your tutor involving visual instruction, Q&A, and practical tasks.
🆓 8. Is there a free option to try before committing? Yes! We offer a completely free QA 101 course that you can download and complete in your own time with no strings attached. It's a great way to get a feel for games testing before enrolling on a full course.
🏢 10. Will I get real work experience? On the Ultimate Plan — we guarantee it! And not just one session either. Starting with our internal QA team, you'll then get the opportunity to work with real game developers — as many sessions as we can throw at you! Previous graduates have even been added to game credits for the work they've performed!
🏆 11. Do I get added to game credits? Our graduates have previously been added to game credits for work experience they have performed — though this is at the discretion of the developer and cannot be guaranteed for every placement.
🤝 12. What support is available after I finish the course? Ultimate Plan graduates receive lifetime career support from the Emerge Academy team. You'll also get access to our private employment portal where we source QA job opportunities from partnered developers both in the UK and worldwide.
⬆️ 13. Can I upgrade my plan later? Absolutely — you can start on the Beginner or Advanced plan and upgrade to the Ultimate plan at any time if you want access to the full experience and all the additional benefits.
🌍 14. Is the course available outside the UK? Currently the course is only available to students living in the UK who are aged 16 or over. This may change in the future.
